Chuncheon City delegation visits Parma, Italy… Materialization of gastronomy and exchange cooperation

Cooperation is materialized by promoting Chuncheon's gourmet cuisine... Follow-up projects such as youth exchange planned

(Chuncheon = Yonhap News) Reporter Ji-woong Yang = The delegation from Chuncheon City in Gangwon-do announced on the 27th that they promoted the taste and culture of the region in Parma, Italy, expanding the scope of exchange between sister cities in education, culture, and tourism.

The delegation led by Vice Mayor Hyun Jun-tae made an official visit to the city of Parma from the 16th to the 23rd.

This visit was planned to participate in 'Parma Gourmet Month', a representative local event, to introduce Chuncheon's food and culture and to materialize the cooperation projects between the two cities that have continued since the sisterhood relationship was established in September of last year.

On the 18th, the delegation held a dakgalbi tasting event at the San Paolo Cultural Complex in conjunction with a special lecture on 'Korea: Culture and Taste' by Chuncheon City Public Relations Ambassador Alberto Mondi, followed by a 'Four Hands Dinner' with chefs from both countries at a local restaurant on the 20th.

Parma's executive chef Enrico Bergonzi and Chuncheon's Log Cabin Dakgalbi chefs confirmed the potential for food culture exchange by combining ingredients and recipes from both cities.

Cooperation between sister cities has also become more concrete.

The delegation met with Mayor Michele Guerra at Parma City Hall on the 18th and discussed ways to expand exchanges in the fields of gastronomy, education, culture, and tourism.

Next, they visited ALMA International Culinary School to look at the culinary talent training project that has been ongoing with Kangwon Life Science High School and decided to continue cooperation, including student training.

On the 21st, they visited Liceo Romanosi High School and discussed the possibility of establishing a sisterhood relationship with high schools in the Chuncheon area, student exchanges, and operating joint programs.

At the international exchange working meeting between Chuncheon City and Parma City held on the same day, follow-up projects such as cooperation with the 'Ciao Italia' hook system in 2027, continuation of exchange during Parma Gourmet Month, and participation in the Chuncheon Makguksu Dakgalbi Festival were discussed.

Based on this discussion, the two cities plan to specify exchange projects in each field.

Vice Mayor Hyun Jun-tae said, "Through this visit, we introduced the taste and culture of Chuncheon to the citizens of Parma and specified the direction of exchange between the two cities. We will strive to expand the relationship connected with gastronomy to the fields of education, culture, and tourism in which students and citizens participate."
