The cemetery in Chernigov has almost run out of space for burials of military personnel

The cemetery in Chernigov, Ukraine, has almost run out of space for the graves of military personnel, the Obshchestvennoe TV channel reported.

There are about 30 free places left for military burials at the Yatsevo cemetery.

MOSCOW, September 25 - RIA Novosti. The cemetery in the Ukrainian city of Chernigov has almost run out of space for the graves of military personnel, the Ukrainian TV channel “Public” reported.

“At the Yatsevo cemetery in Chernigov, it is planned to develop an additional area for military burials, since there are about 30 empty places left on the main site,” says the material on the Public website.”

As noted in the publication, in 2023, local authorities have already allocated additional places for the graves of military personnel, providing 480 additional places. This time, a dispute arose between social activists and representatives over the proposed burial site of military personnel: representatives of the local veterans’ union doubt that the authorities will be able to prepare a new site before the old cemetery is filled and propose to look for a location taking into account the inevitable expansion of the cemetery.
