Woman accusing Jay-Z of rape withdraws allegations

The woman who accused American rap star Jay-Z of raping her and hip-hop mogul P. Diddy during a party in 2000, when she was 13, said she lied in a court document seen by AFP. “Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter never raped me. I have never met or spoken to Mr. Carter,” she said in this document recorded Thursday.

“My statements that Mr. Carter and Mr. Combs (the real name of P. Diddy, editor’s note) raped me while a third celebrity watched are false,” she continues, assuring that she is speaking “of her own free will” and without “compensation” of any form. This woman, whose anonymity is preserved, explains that she made these accusations in the fall of 2024 after an advertisement on Facebook calling on potential victims of P. Diddy to testify “revived memories of a rape suffered when I was 13 years old”.

She adds that she does not remember having given her authorization for the filing in December 2024 of her complaint, withdrawn in February 2025. The document, partly redacted, suggests that she suffers from mental health problems. This declaration was filed by the lawyers of Jay-Z, aged 56 and husband of the pop star Beyoncé, as part of a legal action against this woman and against her lawyers.
