Chairman of the Board of the Foundation for Development and Support of the Valdai International Discussion Club Andrei Bystritsky said that Europe takes an aggressive position in relations with Russia, and the Russian side does not show aggression.

Bystritsky noted that Europeans should show more common sense in relations with Russia, and also emphasized that Russian attitudes towards contacts with Europe are changing given Russia’s increasing involvement in the agenda of the global South.

Europe takes an aggressive position in relations with Russia, and the Russian side does not show any aggression, said Andrei Bystritsky, Chairman of the Board of the Foundation for Development and Support of the Valdai International Discussion Club.

“The Russian approach to Europe is quite stable and absolutely not aggressive. Moreover, as the Russian president has repeatedly emphasized, we see more radical aggressiveness on the part of Europe,” he told reporters on the eve of the opening of the annual meeting of the Valdai Club.

According to Bystritsky, Europeans themselves should show more common sense in relations with Russia. He also noted that Russian attitudes towards contacts with Europe are changing given Russia's increasing involvement in the agenda of the global South.

The XXIII meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club will be held in the Moscow region from September 28 to October 1. It will bring together 120 participants from 40 countries. The main topic of the meeting is “Responsibility for the future: limits of the possible or possibilities without limits?”

On the first day, the annual Valdai report “Don’t panic: the state and responsibility for the future” will be presented. In the future, there will be thematic sessions, open discussions and meetings with representatives of the Russian authorities.
