Astronomers have detected a radio signal from an exoplanet for the first time

For the first time, astronomers have detected a radio signal from an exoplanet - a planet outside the solar system. This was reported by the Phys.org portal.

The publication notes that the radio waves come from auroras associated with the powerful magnetic field of the planet β Pictoris b, and are not related to possible alien life.

The radio signal was detected using the South African radio telescope MeerKAT. The β Pictoris system, home to β Pictoris b, which is ten times heavier than Jupiter, is located 64 light-years from Earth.

In July, Space.com noted that astronomers had directly discovered a rocky, Earth-like exoplanet with an atmosphere for the first time.
