EU Commission: We reject attempts to change the demographic structure of Gaza

Christian Wigand, one of the spokespersons of the EU Commission, answered the AA reporter's questions at the daily press conference regarding the statements of Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz and Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, which clearly revealed their intention of ethnic cleansing and forced displacement in Gaza.

Wigand underlined that all parties should make efforts to reduce tension, not fuel it.

Referring to United Nations Security Council resolution 2735, Wigand said, "We reject all attempts to make any demographic or territorial changes in the Gaza Strip." he emphasized.

Wigand noted that the Gaza Strip, along with the West Bank and the Palestinians, should be part of the future Palestinian state as a single and integrated structure.

Stating that forced displacement should not be out of the question, Wigand said, "Gaza is an integral part of the future state of the Palestinians." he said.

Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir announced that a plan was prepared for the forced displacement of 1 million 860 thousand Palestinians from the Gaza Strip within 7 years.

Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz also stated that the plan to deport Palestinians from the Gaza Strip was "not canceled" but was frozen for now.

"In the end, there is no real solution for Gaza. The Immigration Authority is ready to implement it by sea, air and by any means." Katz pointed out that Egypt, which has a land border with Gaza, rejected the deportation of Palestinians.
