US Secretary of State Marco Rubio made evaluations about US foreign policy in his interview with Fox News channel.
Claiming that US President Donald Trump prevented Iran from threatening the region by producing a large number of conventional weapons, Rubio said, "The only way we would learn otherwise would be to let this happen, and then within five years everyone would say, 'Unbelievable, they allowed Iran to develop a nuclear weapons program behind a conventional shield, and now there is North Korea in the Middle East.' "he said.
Rubio argued that the problem with Iran stems from the revolution, and that those who rule the country are "radical Shiite clerics with an apocalyptic vision", not "government officials in suits" who spoke to the US media.
Asked if Iran was "close to bankruptcy", Rubio replied: "I think they are there now and are rapidly heading towards disaster."
CUBA
In response to the question of whether Cuba is "close to falling", Rubio stated that the country "does not have a functional economy" and said, "The truth is that Cuba has already fallen."
Expressing that they hope Cuba "chooses a different path," Rubio said:
"We hope that among those who control the weapons and the oppressive regime today, there are some people who will open their eyes to the reality they face. As long as Donald Trump is president, they will no longer be able to make money off the backs of the Cuban people. As long as President Trump is in office, we will never, under any circumstances, allow Cuba to become a base of operations against American interests or pose a threat to our national security."
Rubio stated that they are working with the parliament in Venezuela to "provide conditions that will allow free and fair elections to be held as soon as possible."
ENGLAND
Speaking about the later release on bail of people detained near an air base used by the USA in England, Rubio stated that "there are some things he cannot say on live broadcast."
Rubio noted that the thwarted attempt of these suspects was a "very serious situation" and that "a foreign actor was clearly involved", and said that British authorities cooperated and assisted with the US.
Stating that what happened in England and "almost could have happened" was a very serious situation, and that a foreign actor clearly had a hand in the incident, Rubio argued that the incident in question once again showed the fact that we are faced with elements such as Iran that threaten to attack US interests around the world.
Rubio emphasized that if such an attack occurs or is attempted, it will not go unanswered.
GREENLAND
In response to the question of how Chinese President Xi Jinping, whom Trump hosted at the White House last week, reacted to the US's statements regarding Greenland, Rubio stated that this issue was never brought up during the meetings.
Claiming that the Greenland issue is about national security, not territorial annexation, Rubio stated that Greenland is more critical than ever in terms of competition in the Polar region and space defense and missile defense systems.
Noting that rival countries can establish military infrastructures in the region through port and airport investments, Rubio stated that the Greenland agreement is indefinite and thus no rival country can invest in the region without the approval of the USA.
In return, Rubio stated that the United States could build new military facilities that could establish the missile defense shield that North America needs, and said, "It did not cost the American taxpayer a single penny, it is an incredible success."
