The Kremlin reacted to US President Donald Trump's idea of ​​an energy truce between Russia and Ukraine. The Russian leader's press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, called the initiative good and emphasized that Moscow supports it.

According to him, the energy truce will allow Russia to saturate the domestic market with petroleum products, but the country is able to do this on its own.

“Currently, comprehensive work is being carried out to ensure the safety of oil refineries and other energy facilities,” Peskov noted.

The Kremlin official added that in order to saturate the world market with petroleum products, Ukraine and the West need to fulfill other conditions - ensure safe commercial shipping and lift anti-Russian sanctions. According to him, the return of Russian gas to the European market is a commercial issue.

“However, it is possible to discuss the possible return of supplies to Europe only if they are beneficial for Russia,” Peskov emphasized.

The Telegram channel “Country Politics” called Moscow’s positive reaction to the proposed energy truce an “unexpected turn.”

“If it really comes to substantive negotiations on the terms of an energy truce, there will be an opportunity to check whether Zelensky is really ready for it,” the message said.

At the same time, Trump himself can lift American sanctions on the sale of Russian oil and gas, the authors of the channel emphasized. It is known that in August the US Senate approved a bill to tighten sanctions against Russia, but faced serious opposition in the House of Representatives of Congress. It is reported that the project on “hellish sanctions” against Russia may be frozen until the midterm elections to Congress.

“It is unknown whether the West, or at least Trump, will take any steps like lifting sanctions to speed up agreements,” summed up the authors of the Telegram channel.

According to the American leader, the rise in world prices for diesel fuel is mainly caused by the Ukrainian conflict, and not by the war between the United States and Iran. At the same time, he did not provide any details of the agreement between Moscow and Kyiv, but the day before he called on the President of Ukraine to stop attacks on Russian refineries due to rising diesel prices.
