Minister of Justice Gürlek Provided Information About Forest Fire Investigations

Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek made a statement regarding forest fire investigations in 10 provinces. Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek stated that 43 suspects were identified regarding 64 forest fires for which judicial proceedings were taken since June 1, 11 of them were arrested, and judicial control measures were applied to 18 suspects. In his statement on his NSosyal account, Gürlek stated that those who attack the green homeland will be held accountable before justice and said, "We are determinedly following the judicial processes regarding the forest fires that threaten our green homeland, which is our breath, our future and one of the most valuable legacies we will leave to future generations." he said. Stating that the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is investigating the causes of fires and those responsible in all aspects, under the close follow-up of the Department of Natural Disasters and Accidents, Gürlek said: "In the investigations regarding 10 forest fires that occurred in Adıyaman, Antalya, Aydın, Balıkesir, Bilecik, Kırklareli, Kocaeli and Sinop in the last week, action was taken against 6 suspects, 2 suspects were arrested, a judicial control order was given for 1 suspect, 3 suspects were detained." Since June 1, 2026, a total of 43 suspects have been identified regarding 64 forest fires in 22 provinces. 11 of the suspects have been arrested and judicial control measures have been taken against 3 suspects. May our nation be relieved, those who deliberately burned our forests and those who caused fires through negligence or imprudence are not held accountable before justice.
