“According to the embassy, ​​Russian citizens do not live in this state. We have not received any official requests for casualties,” the diplomatic mission said in response to a request from RIA Novosti.

Clashes in Baidoa, the capital of the southwestern state, began early Monday morning after supporters of former regional leader Abdiaziz Laftagarine attacked the city from several directions, AFP reported. Local authorities estimate their number at two to three thousand people. Aviation and drones were used in the battles, and by mid-day the situation in the city had stabilized.
