Two suspects were arrested for attempting to steal a microbus by force and injuring the driver in Fayoum

The security services revealed the circumstances of a video clip that was circulated on social media, which included a complaint by a microbus driver from two people, who accused them of trying to rob him by force and assaulting him with a knife, which resulted in his being injured and the car overturning in a drain in Fayoum.

The Ministry of Interior said in a statement today, Monday, that upon examination it was revealed that on August 28, the Sennurs Police Station received a report that a microbus had overturned on one of the roads in the Central District.

Upon moving and examination, the driver of the car, a driver residing in Giza Governorate, was questioned and found to have suffered neck injuries. He determined that while he was in the parking lot in the Marj area, two people came to him and asked him to take them to Fayoum Governorate to attend a wedding.

The driver added that while he was walking on the road in question, he was surprised by the two defendants assaulting him using a knife, which led to his injury and their attempt to seize the car by force, but he resisted them, and the car overturned in a drain.

The car driver, with the help of the residents, was able to arrest one of the accused, and two white weapons used in the assault incident were found in his possession, while the second accused was able to escape.

With intensified investigations, the security services were able to determine the hiding place of the fugitive accused and arrest him, and upon confronting them, they confessed to committing the incident as referred to.

Legal measures were taken at the time, and the accused were brought before the Public Prosecution, which decided to detain them pending investigation.
