Fire at Construction Site Spreads to Power Station in Germany; Investigations Underway into Sabotage Attempts

According to the newspaper, the fire initially broke out at a construction site on Bissingzell Street, and then spread to a nearby electricity substation. Firefighters arrived at the site around two (or three) in the morning. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and the investigation is ongoing.

According to preliminary information, the accident did not cause any power outages.

She added that several hours before that, the Federal Police, based on a report, went to a substation in the city of Wesel. The reason for the report was the discovery of a hole in the fence. The results of the site inspection have not yet been announced.

At least three cases of alleged sabotage attempts at electrical substations in Brandenburg, North Rhine-Westphalia and Saxony were identified in the past week. Law enforcement officers received a letter in which the alleged attacker confessed to committing these crimes.

The letter's writer turned out to be a man from the city of Geffelsberg in North Rhine-Westphalia, named Daniel F. The police put him on the wanted list.
