Housing sales decreased by 14.7 percent in August

Housing sales decreased by 14.7 percent in August compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 127 thousand 410 units. The downward trend continued in sales, which decreased by 17 percent in July.

According to TÜİK data; In August, first-hand house sales were 44 thousand 378 and second-hand house sales were 83 thousand 32.

The number of first-hand house sales across Türkiye decreased by 4.5 percent in August compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 44 thousand 378. Second-hand house sales decreased by 19.4 percent in August compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 83 thousand 32. The share of first-hand house sales in total house sales was 34.8 percent, and the share of second-hand house sales was 65.2 percent.

CREDIT SALES INCREASED BY 7 PERCENT

Mortgaged house sales across Türkiye increased by 7.2 percent in August compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 22 thousand 131. Other housing sales decreased by 18.3 percent in August compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 105 thousand 279. The share of mortgage sales in total housing sales was 17.4 percent, and the share of other sales was 82.6 percent.

SALES TO FOREIGNERS STAYED HORIZONTAL

Housing sales to foreigners increased by 0.1 percent in August compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 1,938. In August, the share of housing sales to foreigners in total housing sales was 1.5 percent. In the January-August period, housing sales to foreigners decreased by 6.3 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 13 thousand 141.

In August, the most house sales by country nationality were made to citizens of the Russian Federation with 343, Ukraine with 147 and Iran with 140, respectively.
