Housing Sales Across Türkiye Decreased by 14.7 Percent in August

Housing sales across Türkiye decreased by 14.7 percent in August compared to the same month last year, reaching 127 thousand 410. There was a 7.2 percent increase in mortgaged house sales.

FIRST HOME SALES DECREASED BY 4.5 PERCENT

First-hand house sales across Türkiye decreased by 4.5 percent in August compared to the same month last year, reaching 44 thousand 378. Second-hand house sales decreased by 19.4 percent to 83 thousand 32.

The share of first-hand house sales in total house sales was 34.8 percent, and the share of second-hand house sales was 65.2 percent.

In the January-August period, total housing sales decreased by 6.8 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching 950 thousand 529. In this period, first-hand sales decreased by 1.4 percent to 308 thousand 394, and second-hand sales decreased by 9.2 percent to 642 thousand 135.

MORTGAGED HOUSE SALES INCREASED BY 7.2 PERCENT

Mortgaged house sales across Türkiye increased by 7.2 percent in August compared to the same month last year, reaching 22 thousand 131. Other housing sales decreased by 18.3 percent to 105 thousand 279.

The share of mortgage sales in total housing sales was 17.4 percent, and the share of other sales was 82.6 percent.

In the January-August period, mortgaged house sales increased by 27.6 percent to 188 thousand 813, while other house sales decreased by 12.7 percent to 761 thousand 716.

CALENDAR-ADJUSTED HOUSING SALES

In the series adjusted for calendar effects, first-hand house sales decreased by 4.5 percent and second-hand house sales decreased by 19.4 percent compared to the same month last year.

In the series adjusted for seasonal and calendar effects, first-hand house sales increased by 3.5 percent and second-hand house sales increased by 0.7 percent compared to the previous month.

1,938 HOUSES WERE SOLD TO FOREIGNERS

Housing sales to foreigners increased by 0.1 percent in August compared to the same month last year, reaching 1,938. In August, the share of sales to foreigners in total housing sales was 1.5 percent.

In the January-August period, housing sales to foreigners decreased by 6.3 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching 13 thousand 141.

In August, the most house sales by nationality were made to citizens of the Russian Federation with 343, Ukrainians with 147 and Iran with 140.

WORKPLACE SALES DECREASED BY 6.4 PERCENT

Business sales across Türkiye decreased by 6.4 percent in August compared to the same month last year, reaching 15 thousand 937.

While first-hand workplace sales increased by 5.2 percent to 5 thousand 172, second-hand workplace sales decreased by 11.1 percent to 10 thousand 765.

In the January-August period, total workplace sales decreased by 5.3 percent to 118 thousand 198. While first-hand workplace sales increased by 2.8 percent to 34 thousand 843, second-hand workplace sales decreased by 8.3 percent to 83 thousand 355.

MORTGAGED WORKPLACE SALES INCREASED BY 67.6 PERCENT

Mortgaged business sales across Türkiye increased by 67.6 percent in August compared to the same month last year, reaching 652. Other workplace sales decreased by 8.1 percent and were recorded as 15 thousand 285.

In the January-August period, mortgaged workplace sales increased by 65.5 percent to 5 thousand 352, while other workplace sales decreased by 7.2 percent to 112 thousand 846.

WORKPLACE SALES ADJUSTED FOR CALENDAR EFFECT

In the series adjusted for calendar effects, first-hand business sales increased by 5.2 percent and second-hand business sales decreased by 11.1 percent in August compared to the same month of the previous year.

In the series adjusted for seasonal and calendar effects, first-hand workplace sales decreased by 5.0 percent compared to the previous month, while there was no change in second-hand workplace sales.
