Aiel and Uncem are asking for government incentives for wood and pellet systems

Aiel, the Italian Wood Energy Association, and Uncem, the National Union of mountain municipalities, communities and bodies, are asking the government to extend the incentives provided for the renewal of boilers to wood and pellet systems.

According to Marco Bussone, president of both associations, "heat pumps are expensive and powered by very expensive electricity" and "it would be absurd to use them particularly in mountain municipalities". "The Government led by Giorgia Meloni - he explains - can finally focus on replacing obsolete stoves and boilers with new, modern and emission-free systems, powered by wood, wood chips, pellets, material that comes from the management of our forests". "It is the right time - he underlines - to use part of those 14 million euros allowed by Brussels to invest in domestic biomass systems". The objective must be "to replace, with appropriate incentives, the entire old stock of stoves and boilers in homes that are more than ten years old".

"Investing in this replacement, as Uncem and Aiel have been saying for some time - says Bussone - really saves citizens", as "electricity from heat pumps will continue to be more and more expensive, while wood has always been the cheapest fuel". "Emission-free and high-performance systems for Italian homes - he concludes - exist, they are effective, modern, technologically advanced and beautiful. Investing as a country in these systems is decisive"
