Anitta is confirmed as drum queen of Grande Rio in 2027: 'I will do my best'

Singer Anitta was confirmed this Sunday (6) as Grande Rio's drum queen for Carnival 2027. The announcement took place on the school's social media.
Anitta stated: 'I will try hard and do my best'. She said that her show routine is a challenge to balance with her role.
In 2027, the school will present the 'Sankofa Tabon' storyline. The parade will tell the story of enslaved Africans who, free, returned to the African continent.
Singer Anitta was confirmed as the drum queen of Acadêmicos do Grande Rio for Carnival 2027. The announcement was made this Sunday (6) on the samba school's social networks.

The artist said that she accepted the invitation with great respect for the school.
"Knowing the importance of carnival in the lives of so many thousands of people, and for the history of a fighting people who have made parades a political and revolutionary act for decades. And that's why nothing in my presence can be greater than the school, the parade, the community and the professionals who work on this show", said Anitta.
Anitta stated that she intends to dedicate herself to the position and do her best, but acknowledged that her show schedule and routine as a singer will be challenges to reconcile with the reign.
"Like everything I do in my life, I will try hard and do my best, but we know that my schedule and routine as a singer are big challenges for this reign, as I will not abandon my fans at the moment they most enjoy being with me."
"That's why it took us so long to be sure of this movement, which, although it has been a dream for so many years as many of you know, needs to be treated with due respect and dedication to the role. We decided to try, but knowing that what really matters is that the community, the drums, the master and the school are happy with the choice of my name", he added.

The plot
In 2027, the Caxias tricolor will take the plot "Sankofa Tabon – Os Retornados da Costa do Ouro e a Estrela Negra da Liberdade" to Sapucaí. The school will tell the story of enslaved Africans who, after gaining freedom, returned to the African continent.
The parade will cover the history of those who settled on the Gold Coast, the region where Ghana is now located, the country that became the first independent nation in Sub-Saharan Africa.
According to the school's proposal, the plot follows the return journey of these men and women and their reunion with the culture, knowledge and memory of the people who helped build the identity of the Ghanaian nation.
The narrative also highlights the historical and cultural ties that remained alive even after centuries of forced diaspora, celebrating resistance, ancestry and the search for freedom.
With the new plot, Grande Rio is once again focusing on a theme linked to the appreciation of history and African roots for the next carnival parade.
