Researchers: Heat-Related Deaths May Increase Between September 2026-February 2027

According to the researchers' report, the country estimated to be most affected by heat-related deaths in the period September 2026-February 2027 is Nigeria with 31 thousand 400 deaths, followed by Indonesia with 19 thousand 300 and Sudan with 17 thousand 600.

It is predicted that extreme heat in the Sahel region of Africa, where Nigeria, Sudan, Niger and Chad are located, may cause 66 thousand 800 deaths in this six-month period. It is estimated that a total of 19,400 deaths may occur in the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand and Cambodia.
