The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) issued, last Wednesday (23), an orange “storm” alert for 31 cities in the eastern region of Minas Gerais, including Vale do Aço and Zona da Mata.

The warning, classified as “Danger”, indicated a forecast of rain between 30 and 60 mm per hour or 50 to 100 mm per day, risk of flooding, landslides and river overflows in cities with risk areas.

A bus carrying 36 passengers overturned in the early hours of Friday (18), on BR-381, in Governador Valadares. The accident happened towards Belo Horizonte, at km 152, according to the Nova 381 concessionaire.

The vehicle was traveling from Almenara to Belo Horizonte when it left the road and fell into a ditch on the side of the highway. The incident was recorded around 0:39 am.

Last Tuesday (22), in the rural area of Xambioá (TO), the man appointed by the Civil Police of Minas Gerais (PCMG) as an intermediary in hiring the perpetrators of the feminicide of businesswoman Ingrid Emanuelle, killed by fake delivery men in Governador Valadares, in September 2025, was arrested.

According to PCMG, the arrest was carried out by the Federal Police, through the Capture Group in Araguaína, in joint action with the Criminal Police of the State of Tocantins. Luiz Carlos de Souza Oliveira had already been indicted in the police investigation concluded in September 2025.

A 42-year-old driver was injured after dozing off at the wheel, losing control of the steering wheel and overturning the car she was driving on Rua Israel Pinheiro, in the São Pedro neighborhood, in Governador Valadares, on Saturday (19). According to the Military Police, the vehicle hit three other cars that were parked on the road.

According to the PM, the woman was driving along the avenue accompanied by her 13-year-old daughter when the accident occurred. She reported to the military that she had dozed off while driving and only woke up after the car had already rolled over.

The PL candidate for President of the Republic, Flávio Bolsonaro, was in Governador Valadares this Thursday (24) for campaign commitments and defended investments in mining, agribusiness and infrastructure in Minas Gerais. During an interview with Inter TV dos Vales, he also proposed expanding and updating a rare earth laboratory maintained by the Federation of Industries of the State of Minas Gerais (FIEMG).

After the interview in Governador Valadares, Flávio Bolsonaro went to Teófilo Otoni, where he participated in "Bloquinho do Nikolas Ferreira". Afterwards, he returned to Governador Valadares for another event related to federal deputy Nikolas Ferreira.
