A 47-year-old woman was murdered in La Campana (Seville) in an alleged case of sexist violence

The dark statistics of gender violence in Andalusia continue to increase in a particularly tragic year in which twelve women have died, murdered by their partners. The last one, if it is finally confirmed that it is a case of sexist violence, is a 47-year-old woman who was stabbed by her partner in the Sevillian town of La Campana, as confirmed this Sunday by the Civil Guard.

The alleged perpetrator of the events is a 56-year-old man who, after the crime, barricaded himself in a building and caused injuries. According to first information, she is the victim's current partner. Finally, the man was arrested this Sunday, after spending hours barricaded in a house.

After the device deployed and the coordinated intervention of the different Civil Guard units deployed to the scene, the alleged perpetrator of the fatal stabbing has abandoned his attitude and has voluntarily surrendered to the troops, the Civil Guard has stated.

As explained by the deputy delegate of the Government in Seville, Francisco Toscano, this man left the house this Sunday morning after the mediation work of the agents. The man is being treated for the significant injuries he has inflicted.

The events occurred around 10:40 p.m. this Saturday, when the woman was seriously injured after receiving several stab wounds. After the brutal attack, the victim was treated by the health services and transferred to a health center, where his death was finally confirmed around 11:30 p.m. this Saturday, the Seville Civil Guard reported.

In the municipality of La Campana, an operational device has been deployed, with specialized personnel, which has carried out mediation work with the alleged perpetrator of the crime, with the aim of "resolving the situation safely and proceeding to his arrest." Other sources consulted have indicated that, apparently, the man could be armed.

Just last week, a new Crisis Committee convened by the Ministry of Equality, headed by Ana Redondo, met in Seville to analyze the latest sexist murders. For the first time, this body was held outside of Madrid and moved to the capital of Seville because Andalusia is the autonomous community with the most murders due to gender violence. So far in 2026, twelve women have been murdered, more than the ten who died at the hands of their partners in all of 2024.
