Lawyer attacked with acid in Messina: the victim speaks

"She was a client of mine who had mental problems, in fact she was for years at the Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto judicial psychiatric hospital. But I didn't think it could get to this." Speaking to ANSA from the hospital in Catania where he is hospitalized, the lawyer Pierfrancesco Broccio, originally from the village of Santo Stefano Medio in Messina and victim of an acid attack by one of his clients last night, said this, underlining that he was "fortunately out of danger".

"As soon as she saw me - he adds - she told me she wanted to drink a little water and unexpectedly she took the acid and threw it on me. Fortunately she didn't manage to get me in the eyes, also because I had glasses. However, she got me in the lower part of the face, in the neck and in various other parts of the body. I locked myself in the car and ran away. I arrived in my studio and all my clothes were burnt by the acid".

"I - underlines the lawyer Broccio - have never had any problems with her, I am 1.90 meters tall so I wasn't afraid. But after what she did I was very afraid". As to what could have pushed the woman to commit the serious act, the lawyer says that "the only episode for which she could have been angry with me in the past was that I had told him to tell the truth about an act of which he had accused a person, but I didn't think he could do this to me now". After the attack, concludes the lawyer Broccio, "the woman fled, the investors know who she is, and they are looking for her".
