Alexey Orlov resigned early from his post as mayor of Yekaterinburg

Alexey Orlov, who is on vacation and resigned as mayor of Yekaterinburg due to his election as a deputy of the legislative assembly of the Sverdlovsk region, said that he will not go far, and still connects his future life with the Sverdlovsk region.

On Monday, the Yekaterinburg mayor's office reported that Orlov resigned early from the post of mayor of Yekaterinburg due to the inability to combine the functions of mayor with the status of a deputy. It was noted that the decision on his resignation will be made by city Duma deputies; he is currently on vacation.

“I’m moving to another job, let’s put it this way. I won’t go far, I connect my future life with the Sverdlovsk region, with Yekaterinburg, there is no doubt about that,” Orlov said during the plenary session of the International Construction Forum 100+ Technobuild in Yekaterinburg.

As the mayor's office explained to RIA Novosti, the acting head of the city is now deputy mayor Rustam Galyamov.

Judging by the data released by the regional election commission, Orlov was elected as a deputy of the Sverdlovsk Legislative Assembly from the United Russia party.
