China News Service, Harbin, September 5 (Han Xue) As the 2026 National Science Popularization Month officially kicked off, a media meeting for science popularization workers in Heilongjiang Province was held in Harbin on the 4th. The event invites representatives of science popularization workers to share the practical results of grassroots science popularization and explore practical paths for the deep integration of science popularization and technological innovation.

This year’s National Science Popularization Month has the theme of “Technology Changes Life, Innovation Wins the Future”. At the event, Pang Baojun, a professor at the School of Astronautics at Harbin Institute of Technology and chairman of the Heilongjiang Provincial Science Writers Association, shared his experience in the transformation of scientific research and science popularization, and proposed the work concept of "building a foundation through science and technology, empowering science popularization, casting souls through thinking, and educating people through ideological and political education". He also introduced the preparations for the second collection and exhibition of ice and snow science fiction works in Heilongjiang Province. He will polish Longjiang's science fiction science popularization brand through three distinctive actions: creation camps, research routes, and theme salons.

At the meeting, first-line science popularization results were also unveiled. Bai Hui, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the Heilongjiang Provincial Institute of Ecology, said that among the 181 protected blueberry varieties in my country, 120 are independently cultivated, marking a historic breakthrough in independent innovation in breeding. Ma Dongjun, secretary-general of the Heilongjiang Provincial Rural Professional and Technical Association, said that the 13 science and technology service groups established by the association send technology to the countryside all year round, and the live broadcast of "Science and Technology Helping Farmers Online" has been watched by 60,000 people. In terms of grassroots communities, Xue Lei, deputy secretary of the Party Working Committee of Zhaolin Street, Daoli District, Harbin City, said that relying on the Spark Science and Technology Museum, the street has launched experiential and menu-based science popularization services for teenagers and middle-aged and elderly groups, achieving precise coverage of different age groups.

It is reported that during the Science Popularization Month, Heilongjiang will carry out more than a thousand special science popularization activities to promote the popularization of science and benefit more people. (over)
