WE DETERMINED THE MINIMUM AMOUNT OF CARBON DIOXIDE EMISSIONS PER LITER FOR 2026 AS 13 GRAMS.

Minister Uraloğlu made a statement about the annual emission reduction target for the use of sustainable aviation fuel and said, "We have determined the minimum carbon dioxide emission amount per liter for 2026 as 13 grams. Thus, we aim to reduce emissions per liter by 0.5 percent. Our target for 2030 is to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 5 percent with sustainable aviation fuel." he said.

DOES NOT REQUIRE ANY CHANGES TO EXISTING AIRPLANES

Stating that sustainable aviation fuel can be used in existing aircraft without requiring any technical changes, Uraloğlu said that this feature provides a significant advantage for the sector.

Uraloğlu said, "Sustainable aviation fuel can be used in existing aircraft engines without requiring additional technology changes. Thus, it can contribute to reducing carbon emissions without waiting for the renewal of fleets." he said.

ONE OF THE MOST POWERFUL ALTERNATIVES IN COMMERCIAL AVIATION

Stating that although electric transportation solutions have become widespread in many transportation modes, they are not applicable with current technology in commercial aviation, Uraloğlu stated that liquid fuels maintain their importance in long-range flights due to the weight and energy density of battery systems.

Uraloğlu said, "With today's technology, a long-range aircraft that consumes 50 tons of fuel needs to carry approximately 2,500 tons of batteries to perform the same flight. Therefore, sustainable aviation fuel stands out as one of the most important solutions that will reduce the carbon footprint of the aviation industry." made his assessment.
