Caixa bank employees maintain strike in Mato Grosso after rejecting proposal

Bank employees at Caixa Econômica Federal held a protest this Tuesday (15), in Cuiabá, while the category has continued on strike since Thursday (10). The workers rejected the final proposal presented by the bank for the renewal of the Collective Labor Agreement (ACT) and called for the reopening of negotiations. With the decision, the strike continues indefinitely.

According to João Dourado, president of the Union of Bank Employees of Mato Grosso, 100% of Caixa branches in the state are closed due to the strike.

In a note, the bank informed that it is maintaining dialogue with the unions to reach an agreement and reinforced that digital channels remain active during this period.

"CAIXA informs that it maintains an open dialogue with the entities representing employees and returned to the negotiation table with the aim of building an understanding that takes into account the interests of all parties involved."

Among the workers' demands are improvements in working conditions, changes to the health plan and progress in negotiating the category's agreement and collective agreement. Officials also demand that a public competition be held to expand the number of staff at the agencies and, thus, improve service to the population.

Among the points foreseen in the rejected proposal is the payment of a premium of R$3,000 per employee. The bank had also scheduled the payment, on September 18, of the adjusted salary, Profit Sharing (PLR), Super Caixa and the premium.

Another point of the proposal was the increase from 6.5% to 8% of Caixa's participation in the cost of Saúde Caixa, the employees' medical assistance plan. The benefit is among the main differences between workers and the bank.

Before the vote, Caixa informed that this would be its final proposal and that, if employees did not approve the terms within the deadline, it could withdraw the offer and enter into a collective dispute, taking the negotiation to the Labor Court.

According to the National Confederation of Financial Workers (Contraf-CUT), more than 90% of the union bases rejected the previous text presented by Caixa.
