Postal workers begin indefinite strike across Brazil

Post office workers halted activities across the country for an indefinite period. The strike began at 10pm on Thursday (10). According to the Federation of Postal and Telegraph Workers and Communications Companies (Findect), the labor movement was triggered after this year's salary campaign negotiations ended without an agreement.

The workers' assemblies' decision came after successive rounds of negotiation and mediation attempts at the Superior Labor Court (TST). In Acre, the category must decide today on the strike.

According to the federation, the category sought a negotiated solution, but the company maintained its position on an issue considered fundamental by workers. One of the main points of the impasse is the health plan, for workers, retirees and their families.

“The management of Correios insists on changing its status as maintainer of the plan, a proposal that concerns the category due to the risks it could bring to the financing and guarantee of medical assistance,” he said.

Findect also informed that it continues to monitor the movement and that it awaits a response from the management of Correios and the federal government that meets the workers' demands.

“The category demands a proposal that preserves rights, protects the health plan and respects those who keep the company running on a daily basis throughout Brazil.”
