Police confirm Cintia Renata da Silva's femicide after expert examination rules out suicide

In a press conference held this Friday (11), the Civil Police explained that a son of Cintia Renata da Silva, 41, found his mother lying in bed, next to two empty packs of sedatives and with a cut on her wrist, which raised the suspicion that she had taken her own life.

However, the Scientific Police's expertise went to the scene and revealed that the woman was hit with around 16 stab wounds to the chest, neck, face and back, in addition to having defensive wounds on her hands, which confirmed that the case was a violent death.

"The defensive injury shows that, although she may have been drugged, this did not incapacitate her from trying to defend herself, which was decisive in completely ruling out the possibility of suicide," said criminal expert Wescley Silva Pontes.

According to delegate Raffaella Aguiar, head of the Specialized Homicide and Women's Protection Division (DHPM), reports from other residents of the region also indicated the existence of a history of domestic violence between the victim and her ex-partner, who lived in the same house.

Upon learning of Cinthia's death, the man felt ill and went to the São Pedro Emergency Room, where he was questioned and said he was working when he received the news.

However, police discovered that the suspect had not gone to work that day. Later, he stated that he provided services in another location, but this version was also refuted.

Witnesses also said that he behaved strangely, such as sending several messages saying where he was and stating that he was looking for Cinthia. He also took his daughter to the park before heading home to try to justify his whereabouts, something he didn't usually do.

Even with the attempt to create an alibi, the man was arrested in the act for feminicide, still within PA. His identity was not released by the Civil Police.

According to the delegate, investigations showed that the relationship between Cinthia and her ex-partner was troubled and marked by physical, psychological and verbal aggression.

The household's income came from the man's work, while the woman took care of the couple's daughters, diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). In total, Cinthia had four children.

The couple stayed together for eight years before breaking up, but the suspect did not accept the end of the relationship and killed his ex-partner. The victim had never registered a report or sought help from the police before.
