40-Day Quarantine Will Be Implemented in 15 Neighborhoods in Bergama Against Blue Tongue Disease

In the information sent to the neighborhood headmen by the Bergama District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, it was reported that there was an outbreak of blue tongue disease in Yenikent District. It was announced that quarantine measures will be implemented for 40 days in a total of 15 neighborhoods, including Yenikent, in order to prevent the spread of the disease.

It was reported that within the scope of the quarantine measures taken, animal entry and exit to the said neighborhoods were stopped.

The neighborhoods that will be quarantined are listed as follows: Kurfallı, Tekkedere, Aşağıkırıklar, Sağancı, Bozyerler, Ovacık, Çalıbahçe, Çamköy, Bozköy, Eğrigöl, Yenikent, Süleymanlı, Zeytindağ, Sarıdere, Kazıkbağları.

Bergama District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry stated that the purpose of the application is to prevent the spread of the disease to other animals and regions and asked animal owners living in the neighborhoods to strictly comply with the quarantine rules.

WARNING TO PET OWNERS

In line with the decision taken by the authorities, it was emphasized that stopping animal movements during the quarantine period is important in controlling the disease. In particular, it was stated that animal owners should not buy, sell or transport animals without permission, and should immediately report animals with suspected disease to the relevant agricultural and veterinary units.

After the 40-day quarantine in Bergama, a new evaluation is expected to be made depending on the spread of the disease.
