Bergamo, attempts to kill ex-partner with scissors: 30-year-old arrested

A 30-year-old Moroccan man was arrested by the Carabinieri in the province of Bergamo on charges of attempted murder for having seriously injured his ex-partner with a sharp blade made from a pair of scissors.

The soldiers from the Urgnano station intervened on the night between 20 and 21 September with the 118 health workers who rescued the woman, a 34-year-old Italian, found on the floor in the house with deep stab wounds.

At the Papa Giovanni XXIII hospital in Bergamo, multiple penetrating injuries were found on her neck, chest and arms and as the hours passed her condition worsened to the point of requiring hospitalization in the Intensive Care Unit in danger of life.

The attack occurred in the presence of the couple's 4-year-old son, who was then entrusted to his maternal grandparents. The man, already under investigation for robbery, personal injury and drug dealing, had meanwhile left the house on foot and was tracked down by the police not far away. He still had blood on his hands and didn't resist.

The aggressor was the recipient of a provision from the Juvenile Court which prohibited him from approaching the house and places frequented by his minor son. He was arrested red-handed for attempted murder and the investigating judge, after the validation hearing, ordered him to remain in prison.
