Two teachers sentenced to two years and four months for mistreatment in a nursery in Venafro

Two teachers accused of mistreating children in a nursery in Venafro were sentenced by the Court of Isernia to two years and four months in prison.

The story dates back to the end of 2018 when, based on complaints from parents, the Isernia Flying Squad launched the investigation called 'Let them play' and a few months later, in 2019, the two women were investigated for the specific crime.

Tonight, after a long deliberation, judge Martina Guenzi pronounced the sentence which also contains the ban from public offices for two years and four months and compensation to the civil parties; the prosecutor Francesco Inserra had asked for a sentence of one year and four months.

The cameras installed by the police during the investigation made it possible to verify the various episodes of physical and psychological violence against the children. "A first step - said the lawyer Di Grezia of the Messere firm who assisted some of the civil parties - towards justice, which is painful and long.

It has been eight years of trial and suffering for the parents who unfortunately relived what their children suffered during the hearing."

The parents were present in the courtroom when the sentence was read and expressed satisfaction. The reasons for the sentence will be filed within ninety days.

"Before any comment - commented the defender of one of the teachers, Perrotta - we will need to read the reasons. And we will make the appropriate assessments. An appeal will certainly be lodged".
