The Russian woman faces more than 20 years in prison on charges of interfering with a flight crew or flight attendant and assault. Following preliminary hearings in the District Court of Maine, the prosecutor's claims were found to be justified, and Kedysheva was left in custody.

It is reported that while on board a plane from Milan to Newark, the Russian woman swore and demanded alcohol. After refusing the captain's order to take her seat, she allegedly tried to open the rear door of the aircraft. According to witnesses, crew members and passengers tried to restrain Kedysheva. The Russian woman allegedly hit and bit a flight attendant and scratched a passenger.
