US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee accused Iran of seeking to destroy America

Iran has been threatening to destroy the US and bring death to America for almost 50 years, and anyone who doesn't believe should be ashamed. This was stated by US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, Clash Report reports.

"That's one of the reasons why I'm so grateful to [US President Donald] Trump for finally having the courage to say, 'Enough is enough. They won't have nuclear weapons,'" the diplomat said.

Huckabee noted that the Iranian leadership has a 47-and-a-half-year history of making statements that they never intended to implement. “The only thing they said and what they really intend to do is destroy America and bring death to America,” he pointed out.

Earlier it became known that negotiations between the United States and Iran through the mediation of Qatar were unsuccessful. The parties are not yet ready to change their positions and make concessions.

According to the Axios portal, Qatari mediator Ali al-Thawadi met in New York with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and his team. The meeting lasted several hours. One of the sources said there were no significant changes during the negotiations.

According to Axios, the lack of progress is fueling fears of renewed military conflict. US officials believe the US president could order a major resumption of military action after the midterm congressional elections in November.

Press Secretary of Russian President Vladimir Putin Dmitry Peskov commented on Iran’s desire to withdraw from the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT). According to him, Russia would not want Iran to withdraw from the NPT and expects Tehran to maintain its status as a responsible party to the agreement.

Peskov noted that the NPT is the cornerstone of the nuclear non-proliferation regime.
