Regarding the housing supply promoted by the government on the 30th, Prime Minister Han Deok-soo said, "The most important thing is to increase the predictability of housing supply by informing the public in detail about what they are curious about for each project."
Prime Minister Han mentioned this in his plenary remarks at the 3rd inter-ministerial rapid housing supply inspection meeting held at the Seoul Government Complex on this day and emphasized, โIt is time to restore trust in housing supply through this.โ
Regarding efforts to speed up supply, he said, "To resolve difficulties related to finance and licensing, a person in charge has been designated for each of 300 business sites and is working," and added, "We plan to soon open an integrated housing supply support center by combining support centers operated by ministries."
At the same time, he said, โThere have been achievements, such as the start of construction and approval of general housing (non-apartment) in Seoul, which has increased by about 60-70% compared to the previous year, but it is still insufficient overall,โ and emphasized, โIt is more important than anything to ensure that efforts lead to housing supply and that (the people) can visually see and feel the progress.โ
At the same time, he said, "Each ministry should make every effort to actively inform the public of the progress and major achievements of the housing projects under its jurisdiction so that the public can easily understand them." He added, "The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and LH (Korea Land and Housing Corporation) should hurry up to quickly implement and make public the tentative name 'Housing Supply Digital Status Board' so that the public can see the housing supply progress at a glance."
Lastly, Prime Minister Han said, "As Prime Minister, I will work with you all to ensure that housing supply does not stop at planning but continues through actual construction and occupancy, and that the results are properly communicated to the people."
He also said, "Just before the meeting, I made a special request to the ministers related to housing supply, including the newly inaugurated Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. As housing supply is an important livelihood task directly related to the lives of the people, I ask the ministers to take full responsibility and take care of it until the end as the final person in charge of the task under their jurisdiction."
Prime Minister Han held a separate meeting with relevant ministers prior to the meeting.
The Prime Minister's Office reported that he asked the ministers of each ministry to "keep in mind that they are field commanders in a battle to speed up housing supply and do their best."
Meanwhile, the government plans to hold regular briefings twice a month starting next month to inform the public about the progress of housing supply.
Briefings are hosted alternately by the Office for Government Policy Coordination and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and vice-minister level or higher serve as briefers. In principle, it is held every other Friday at 11 a.m., and is scheduled to be held on the 16th and 30th of next month.
