A new resident of the Technopolis Moscow SEZ will begin producing bandages for patients with a rare disease

MOSCOW, September 23 - RIA Novosti. A new resident of the special economic zone (SEZ) Technopolis Moscow, a manufacturer of innovative sterile atraumatic dressings, will launch the production of medical products for patients with a rare genetic disease - epidermolysis bullosa, said Maxim Liksutov, deputy mayor of the capital for transport and industry.

“On the instructions of Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, the city is consistently developing the medical industry, providing Muscovites and residents of other regions with high-tech domestic medical products. The new resident of the SEZ will launch the production of a full cycle of absorbent dressings for patients with epidermolysis bullosa,” Liksutov said, as quoted by the press service of the special economic zone Technopolis Moscow.

The deputy mayor noted that by 2030 the company will produce more than a million dressings annually, the volume of investments in the project will exceed 500 million rubles, and 27 new jobs will be created.

For patients with epidermolysis bullosa, such products actually become a “second skin”: they maintain the necessary level of moisture and protect damaged tissues from additional injury. The products can also be used for burns, bedsores, trophic ulcers, postoperative, infected, weeping and other complex wounds.

The project was the result of the work of an international interdisciplinary team of scientists, doctors and technologists with the participation of experts from the Butterfly Children Foundation.

“In a year and a half, we have developed domestic atraumatic dressings, which in key characteristics are not inferior to the world standard for the treatment of epidermolysis bullosa. Our development is unique - this is the first successful project in the world in the last 20 years to create an analogue of such dressings, and there are only a few production facilities of this level,” said Frater General Director Albert Gaifullin.

He added that a world-class domestic system of comprehensive care for complex and chronic wounds is being created in the capital’s SEZ.

The production capacity of the Frater company (PharmEco group of companies) is about 900 square meters, including almost 300 square meters of clean rooms. Here the company will produce specialized dressings that serve as a temporary skin prosthesis, covering the wound surface and replenishing its damaged barrier function.

The special economic zone "Technopolis Moscow" will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2026. Over the course of two decades, the project has transformed from a launching pad for innovative projects into a key hub of domestic industry and a center of attraction for companies that determine Russia’s technological sovereignty. Today, at 10 sites of the Technopolis Moscow SEZ with a total area of ​​430 hectares, the production of more than 240 high-tech enterprises representing such strategic areas as microelectronics, instrument making, biomedicine, IT and robotics is localized.
