National Advanced Manufacturing Conference held: Emphasizing integrated development is the key to making advanced manufacturing bigger and stronger

Not long ago, the National Advanced Manufacturing Conference was held in Beijing. Convening this important meeting in the first year of the "15th Five-Year Plan" highlights the importance of advanced manufacturing in the overall development of China's modernization drive, and also clarifies the direction of continuing to expand and strengthen advanced manufacturing.

The "15th Five-Year Plan" outline proposes to maintain a reasonable proportion of manufacturing and build a modern industrial system with advanced manufacturing as the backbone. Currently, my country's manufacturing industry is in a critical period of growing from large to strong, with the added value of manufacturing accounting for nearly 30% of the world's total. Data show that from January to August this year, the added value of the national industrial enterprises above designated size increased by 5.3% year-on-year. New kinetic energy fields represented by high-tech manufacturing and digital product manufacturing contributed more than 50% to the growth of the added value of industrial enterprises above designated size. However, the development of my country's advanced manufacturing industry still faces deep challenges. Problems such as low matching between factor supply and industrial demand, uneven regional development, and weak industrial organization synergy still exist.

Cross-border integration is an important driving force for the development of advanced manufacturing. A pair of artificial intelligence glasses, equipped with artificial intelligence, sensor, wireless communication and other technologies, integrates translation, navigation, speech recognition and other services; Hefei Luogang Park brings together more than 10 typical scenarios such as sightseeing, cultural tourism, and highway inspections, giving new technologies a "place to use"... In recent years, there have been many breakthroughs and cross-applications of technologies in different fields such as information technology, new materials, and biotechnology, giving birth to a number of highly integrated innovative products and comprehensive innovative scenarios.

Many places in China are actively exploring and practicing, striving to cultivate new industrial momentum through open scenarios and broken business formats, and embark on a path of differentiated upgrading. Hubei promotes integration from a single field to the overall situation, and clearly "promotes the deep integration of advanced manufacturing and modern service industries, and promotes the joint development of the real economy, digital economy, primary, secondary and tertiary industries"; Guangdong proposes "5+" and "5 manufacturing" including "advanced manufacturing + services", translating high-end, intelligent, green and integrated into a set of executable "industrial grammar".

Facing the future and continuing to expand and strengthen advanced manufacturing, single-point technological breakthroughs are important, but integrated development thinking is even more critical. Business entities need to actively connect with digital technology, urban scenarios, people's livelihood needs, and global markets, and reconstruct products, formats, and business models with cross-border innovation. Industrial development must continue to break down barriers between industries, regions, and supply and demand, and build an integrated ecology of "technical empowerment, scenario implementation, industrial agglomeration, and supporting services." Deepen cross-border exploration in cutting-edge fields, promote in-depth coupling of manufacturing with artificial intelligence, biotechnology, etc., and continue to cultivate new growth points for future industries.
