Russia accuses Ukraine of escalating attacks on nuclear facilities with Western support

Ukraine, with the connivance and financial support of its Western partners, is increasing attacks on Russian nuclear facilities. This was announced by Ambassador at Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry Rodion Miroshnik, TASS reports.

“I can say that this escalation, which occurred after the European Union allocated 90 billion euros, has also extended to the nuclear sector, to radiation safety,” he noted.

As the diplomat pointed out, since April the Ukrainian side has been actively shelling Energodar, where the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) is located, as a result of which many people were forced to leave the city.

According to him, very dangerous objects were hit, in particular, nuclear waste storage sites. Such attacks could lead to a surge in radiation levels and disrupt the operation and safety of the nuclear power plant, Miroshnik emphasized.

At the same time, he added, after the attacks on the Zaporizhzhya NPP, Kyiv begins to try on other nuclear power plants, including Kursk and Smolensk, and the West does not react in any way to its actions.

“At a certain period of time, this caused some kind of reaction from the Europeans, from the members of the IAEA. And now, mind you, the daily attacks on the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant do not cause any reflection among Kyiv’s sponsors,” the ambassador concluded.
