Body torn to pieces in an apartment in Turin: three arrested

It all started on Thursday evening, when around 11pm a woman on the phone with 112 said that her son had hurt someone. She is the mother of 26-year-old Christian Matheus De Oliveira Morando. The state police cars arrive at an apartment in the Mirafiori district where, in addition to the woman, there is her son: the young man says he killed a person after a fight, in another house on the other side of Turin, in via Gulli.

The police then rushes to the address indicated by the boy and rings the doorbell of an apartment where the 47-year-old teacher Nicole Formichetti lives, on the fourth floor of a building. When the woman opens the door, the officers enter and discover the remains of a human body torn to pieces in some black bags. The agents of the Flying Squad, the forensic police and the medical examiner also arrive, and other parts of the body are found inside buckets, covered with quick-setting cement. There are some knives next to it.

On Friday evening, after some searches and interrogations, three people were arrested: the crime hypothesis brought against Christian Matheus De Oliveira Morando is murder and suppression of a corpse, that for Nicole Formichetti and the 22-year-old from Turin of Philippine origin Keith Butig is aiding and abetting the suppression of a corpse. And the victim is identified as Fabio Colapietro, born in Chivasso and resident in Settimo Torinese, a 39-year-old whose relatives had not heard from him for a few days.

On Saturday, the mother of Christian Matheus De Oliveira Morando - speaking from the intercom - then said that "it was he himself who called the police from his phone, it wasn't me. But when he spoke to 112, he spoke very agitated, it wasn't clear. They asked him if anyone was there and he said 'my mother is here'. He handed me the phone and then I spoke, saying 'come here, because my son has hurt someone'. They asked me 'what?' and I said 'I don't know, come and ask him directly'". On Thursday evening, the woman explained, her son "told her where it was, but it wasn't at the person's address (later found dead, ed.). He told me to go to the Rebaudengo area and I found them in Piazza Rebaudengo and from there I asked him to call the police". "He told me very confusing things: that he was desperate, he kept crying, saying things... he was upset, so I didn't understand - concluded the woman - He made it clear that something very serious had happened, but I told him that he had to call the police and he had to talk to the police, that he had to do the right thing, that's all". Then he clarified: "I don't know any of the people he hangs out with. I hang out with completely different people. He hasn't lived here for a lifetime."

Of Professor Nicole Formichetti, Italian teacher at the Tommaso D'Oria Institute in Ciriè, the neighbors say that in her apartment there was a constant coming and going of people: "During the day and in the evening", "I know her from I often saw her with a little dog and accompanied by different people, friends who went up and down with her". A different portrait from the one collected by La Repubblica in the woman's school, where she is described as "very solitary and detached" in recent times and reserved about her private life. Furthermore, the 47-year-old apparently decided not to start the school year due to personal problems.

"She lived here with her parents and two younger brothers, both teenagers, for at least ten or twelve years, a family that didn't cause any problems. For some time we had seen the girl more rarely. We have never met her accompanied by people other than her family. We don't know if she was studying or working, she doesn't seem like a person capable of doing harm", explain two neighbors speaking about Keith of the 22-year-old Keith Butig of Filipino origin. "We won't talk, except in front of a lawyer", says a young male voice on the intercom of the family, who lives a few hundred meters from where Nicole Formichetti lives.

There are still many points to be clarified while the investigations, coordinated by prosecutor Lea Lamonaca, continue in the utmost confidentiality to reconstruct what happened. The investigators are continuing to interview several people who frequented the professor's apartment, and the motive for the murder must be understood, given that initially Christian Matheus De Oliveira Morando would have spoken of a fight over a robbery or theft. If the twenty-six-year-old's words were confirmed, the role of the other young man and the teacher remains to be clarified. Finally, it must be established that the victim had been dead for some time and whether the man was murdered in via Gulli, or in another place and only subsequently taken to the apartment.
