Truck loses brakes and invades house in Búzios: 'It was a huge scare'

A truck transporting construction materials crossed the wall of a residence this Friday morning (6), in the José Gonçalves neighborhood, in Armação dos Búzios, in the Lakes Region of Rio.

According to Civil Defense, the vehicle lost its brakes while going down a hill on Rua São Lázaro. With the force of the impact, the truck invaded part of the property and hit the living room, laundry area and kitchen. The agency was called to assess possible damage to the structure of the residence.

At the time of the accident, a child was lying in a room close to the area hit by the vehicle. The girl's father, Ygor Portal, said he became desperate when he realized the scale of the accident and the risk his daughter took.

"It was a fatality here in my house. Luckily, it didn't hit the wall where my daughter was lying. It was a huge scare. I was extremely worried. Now, I just want a resolution to this problem in the best way possible for my family", he reported.

According to sub-lieutenant Flávio Salme, general coordinator of the municipality's Civil Defense, the driver would have jumped out of the truck when he realized that the vehicle had no brakes, in an attempt to escape the crash. The man suffered injuries and was taken to Rodolpho Perissé Municipal Hospital by residents.

The Department of Public Services provided a machine to help remove the truck. According to Civil Defense, the removal of the vehicle will allow a more detailed assessment of the damage caused to the residence.
