Reaction from CHP's Yavuzyılmaz to Highway Privatization: '450 Percent Increase Will Come'

While the reactions to the inclusion of two bridges, eight highways and two ring roads, including the Izmir-Çeşme and Izmir-Aydın highways, within the scope of privatization for 30 years with the signature of President Erdoğan, NEW Party Zonguldak Deputy Deniz Yavuzyılmaz said that there will be a 450 percent increase in the roads.

Addressing citizens living in Izmir and Aydın or passing through these provinces, Yavuzyılmaz said, "One of the publicly operated highways that AKP plans to privatize for 30 years is the KGM İzmir-Aydın Highway. Its length is 99 km, toll fee: 73 TL. If this privatization plan is realized, vehicle tolls are expected to increase by 450 percent. This means that if the KGM İzmir-Aydın Highway is privatized, the vehicle toll is currently 73 TL. "It will be indexed to the fee of the operated highway and will increase to 415 TL. This is stealthily robbing the citizens under the name of privatization."

While citizens and unions living in the peninsula, which includes Çeşme, Urla and Karaburun, filed three separate lawsuits with the Council of State, demanding the annulment of the decision, signature campaigns continue in three district squares.
