NEW Party Diyarbakır Deputy Sezgin Tanrıkulu visited Batman Chamber of Agriculture and met with farmers.

Stating that corn producers are having difficulties due to increasing input costs, Tanrıkulu said that the price of corn should be at least 17 thousand liras per kilogram.

Tanrıkulu visited the Chamber of Agriculture and met with the producers due to the start of the corn harvest in Batman and listened to the problems and expectations of the farmers.

“OUR FARMERS HAD LOSSES”

Stating that the corn harvest has started in Batman, Tanrıkulu said, "Last year, the price of corn was 11 thousand 300 liras per kilogram. Our farmer made a loss. However, our farmer, who could not leave his field empty, had to plant corn this year as well."

“THERE WAS AN INCREASE OF OVER 50 PERCENT IN INPUT COSTS”

Draw attention to the increase in production costs. Tanrıkulu said, "This year, there has been an increase of over 50 percent in input costs, especially diesel fuel, fertilizer, medicine and seeds. The farmer will now harvest. However, today even the harvesting cost does not cover the sales price of corn. The farmer's expectation is approximately 17 thousand liras per kilogram. The price in the market is currently around 14 thousand liras. The price of corn should not be left in the hands of monopolies, and the price should be at least 17 thousand liras in order for the farmers to be rewarded for their labor and sweat."
