Christian Eriksen breaks contract with Wolfsburg after collapse

It was in a training international match between Denmark and Ukraine that Christian Eriksen collapsed on the pitch. The Dane announced shortly after that he was fine.

During yesterday, it was announced that Eriksen - who has not played football since the incident - has broken his contract with Wolfsburg.

- Incredibly sad what happened to him again. You have to look at him and what he wants as a person. The club did a great job of letting him know that it was his decision how he wants to move forward, says the new Wolfsburg player Alexander Bernhardsson.

Moved home: "Supports him in everything"

Eriksen has moved home to Denmark.

- We as teammates and club support him in everything. I can only say that he made the right choice, from my point of view. Hats off to him and what he has done.

However, the situation was different from the one that arose in 2021, when Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest during the soccer European Championship at the Park in Copenhagen. He said so himself in a post on Instagram.

"I want everyone to know that I feel well and am with my family. As you can probably understand, the shock I received from my pacemaker played a big role for both me and my family," wrote the Dane, among other things, on the platform after the incident last summer.

He now has a pacemaker implanted.
