Onur Emrah Yıldız is an environmental engineer, local administrator and politician born in Çiğli district of İzmir in 1986. Yıldız, who spent most of his education life in Çiğli, completed his primary, secondary and high school education in the district. At university, he graduated from Sivas Cumhuriyet University, Faculty of Engineering, Department of Environmental Engineering.

Yıldız, who started his working life in the family company after his university education, started working at İZSU within the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality in 2012. During his time at İZSU, he served as branch manager and department head.

According to the information in CHP's official CV, Yıldız took on the position of Stream Maintenance and Gulf Dredging Branch Manager in 2019. Two years later, he was appointed Head of the Sewerage Department. Yıldız, who later turned to local politics, became CHP's Çiğli Mayor candidate in the local elections of March 31, 2024.

Onur Emrah Yıldız, who competed for Çiğli Mayor in the 2024 local elections, received 60 thousand 989 votes with 48 percent of the votes and finished the election in first place.
