Collectives, 'we are not the CGIL, the wide field does not represent us'

An entire generation is mobilizing across Europe, an unprecedented movement is crossing schools, universities, neighborhoods and the centers of large and small cities with heterogeneous tools, practices and words but with a common objective: taking back the future that the ruling classes have taken away from us.

We cannot let it be absorbed by the CGIL and the wider political field in our country. By calling the general strike, the CGIL would like to try to channel our aspirations, determine our mobilization for its concertative needs but the wind of change cannot be represented by those who have contributed in any way to slowing it down. We will not allow it and we appeal to the many, many students, young people, second generation boys and girls, collectives, representative lists, associations who were protagonists of the mobilizations to unite to build an impressive day of student strike, but independent of those who want to exploit our struggles. Numerous collectives and social centers wrote it, including Osa and Cambiare Route.

We know we are not alone and indeed we want to strengthen the strategic alliance with the workers, whom we ask to be with us once again. Let's block schools and universities together, invade the streets and break the chains of concertation. Against the government, the bosses and the complicit unions. Today we cannot stand in the streets with those who favored the neoliberal turn in public education in this country, destroyed public schools, universities, academies and research, endorsed the worst policies on work and contracts, with those who supported any proposal on common European defense by talking about peace, with those who stammered about the genocide in Palestine, with those who supported the TAV in Val di Susa and the list would be endless! On November 20th we will not enlist, neither with the government of war, high prices and racism nor with the CGIL and the complicit broad field, they conclude.
