Cuba warns: in the event of US military intervention it will exercise its right to defense

In the event of a US military intervention, Cuba will exercise its legitimate right to defense with the utmost determination and vigor. Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez reiterated this today in his speech to the United Nations General Assembly, underlining that such an eventuality "would result in the death of Cuban citizens and young Americans, as well as massive destruction on the island".

Rodríguez then insisted on denouncing the consequences of the US economic and energy blockade and - at the conclusion of his speech - stated that Cuba is in any case advancing in the process of change initiated by the government in the context of the profound crisis that the island is experiencing.

"We are aware of the immense challenge that our country faces in terms of security, survival, well-being of the population and the destiny of the nation. We do not face this challenge passively, but with firmness and dignity. On this basis, we are carrying forward a process of change capable of profoundly transforming the economic and social model and which has its roots in our historical experience", he said.
