War in Ukraine: eleven dead in cross attacks, stalemate on negotiations

At least eleven people died in Ukraine and Russia in the last day of cross-attacks, while there is no sign of possible negotiations. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused Moscow of increasingly brutal actions.

On Ukrainian territory, two people were killed in Zaporizhzhia and two in Sumy. Several were also injured in Kiev. A Starlink data processing center was also bombed in Kosmonova, a suburb of the capital. In Russia, according to local authorities, one person died in the Belgorod region, three in the occupied part of the Zaporizhzhia region and three more in the Krasnodar region. Zelensky also claimed attacks on a refinery in the Krasnodar region and a refueling site in the Rostov region.

Zelensky confirmed Trump's green light for Kiev to produce Patriot missiles for air defense at home. The announcement follows the face-to-face meeting with the tycoon on the sidelines of the UN work, during which the US proposed a trilateral meeting to relaunch the negotiations.

But Putin's freeze has arrived on the negotiations: "Reconciliation and the proposal to resume negotiations are all options on the table; all this is possible. But, after everything they (the Ukrainians, ed.) have done, we will carefully evaluate what steps to take in this regard. In any case, we will take all decisions, including the possible resumption of the negotiation process, based on Russia's interests", added the Tsar.

"My organization documents cases of human rights violations. In our database we have more than 100 thousand cases of war crimes and crimes against humanity. This war is horrible and I know it well. I work directly with people affected by this war. I assure you that people in Ukraine dream of peace. Peace does not come when the invaded country stops resisting. That is not peace. That is occupation. That is war in another form." Nobel Peace Prize winner Oleksandra Matvijčuk said this in a video speech at "Change", the assembly of PD reformists underway in Prato.

Russian and Ukrainian airstrikes have killed at least eleven people in the two countries, the respective local authorities said today. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said two people had been killed in the southern city of Zaporizhzhia. Authorities in Sumy announced that two more people were killed in the northeastern city, near the Russian border, in a daytime airstrike that also wounded six other people, including an 18-month-old girl. In Kiev, a drone attack on a residential building injured five people, a day after airstrikes on the capital killed seven people.

In Russia's Belgorod region, bordering Ukraine, one person was killed in a Ukrainian drone attack on a business, while three others died in separate Ukrainian airstrikes in the Russian-occupied part of the Zaporizhzhia region, Yevgeny Balitsky, a local official appointed by Moscow, said on Saturday. Meanwhile, debris from Ukrainian drones killed three people and injured two others in the Krasnodar region of southwestern Russia, also causing a fire in a business, which was later put out, according to local authorities.

Zelensky said Kiev hit an oil refinery in the Krasnodar region and a "refueling site for the occupiers" in the nearby Rostov region.

"We have listened to and read the proposals of the M5s" and "some are completely unacceptable", such as the stop to support for Ukraine.
