President Erdoğan met with British Prime Minister Andy Burnham in New York

President Erdoğan met with British Prime Minister Andy Burnham as part of his bilateral contacts in New York.

During the meeting, where bilateral relations between Turkey and the UK as well as regional and global issues were discussed, Erdoğan stated that Turkey-Britain relations were strengthened in every field and that he believed that cooperation would be taken further with steps to be taken in many areas, especially the defense industry and trade.

Emphasizing that Israel has repeatedly demonstrated through its actions that it does not want peace in Gaza and the West Bank, and that the pressure of the international community is important, Erdoğan noted that tensions have increased in Iran and Ukraine, and that the negotiation process can be restored by reaching an agreement on Hormuz.

Stating that there is a state of stalemate regarding Ukraine, Erdoğan pointed out that targeting Turkish or foreign merchant ships in the Black Sea further complicates the situation.

Erdoğan underlined that any formula that does not recognize the sovereign equality and international status of the Turkish Cypriot people on the Island will not yield results.
