The Presidency's Directorate of Communications made a statement regarding the meeting of President Erdoğan, who was in New York on the occasion of the 81st United Nations (UN) General Assembly, with UN Secretary-General Guterres.
Accordingly, regional and global issues were discussed at the meeting. President Erdoğan said that they are working closely with Guterres, who is nearing the end of his term, on many issues concerning global peace and security.
Erdoğan stated that it has become clear once again that Israel does not want peace in Gaza, that settler terrorism in the West Bank and attacks on holy places in Jerusalem have worsened the situation, and that the basis for a two-state solution must be preserved.
President Erdoğan stated that the tension in Iran and Ukraine should be reduced, that they, as Türkiye, are making efforts to adhere to the diplomatic process, and that a process arising from within the region regarding the Hormuz issue could be beneficial.
Erdoğan emphasized that they expect the parties to take a responsible attitude towards the safety of navigation in the Black Sea, and that Türkiye is disturbed by the targeting of merchant ships in the Black Sea.
During the meeting, President Erdoğan said that any proposal that does not recognize the sovereign equality and equal international status of the Turkish Cypriot people on the island will not yield results.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, Türkiye's Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Ahmet Yıldız, Ambassador Mehmet Güllüoğlu and Presidential Agriculture and Food Policies Board Member Mehdi Eker were also present at the meeting.
MEETING WITH THE EMIR OF QATAR
The Presidency's Directorate of Communications made a statement regarding President Erdoğan's meeting with Qatar Emir Tamim bin Hamed Al Thani.
During the meeting, where Turkey-Qatar bilateral relations and regional and global issues were discussed, President Erdoğan stated that Turkey and Qatar will continue to work to take bilateral relations to higher levels in all areas, especially investment, trade, energy and defense industry.
Stating that the developments that negatively affect the energy supply in the region put everyone in trouble, Erdoğan emphasized that it is important to advance cooperation in the fields of energy and transportation corridors.
President Erdoğan pointed out that Israel insists on not taking steps towards peace in Gaza and underlined that it is important for the international community to exert strong pressure to restrain Israeli aggression in the region.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, Minister of Commerce Ömer Bolat, MİT President İbrahim Kalın and Presidential Defense Industry President Haluk Görgün were also present at the meeting.

During the meeting, where bilateral relations between Turkey and the UK as well as regional and global issues were discussed, Erdoğan stated that Turkey-Britain relations were strengthened in every field and that he believed that cooperation would be taken further with steps to be taken in many areas, especially the defense industry and trade.
Emphasizing that Israel has repeatedly demonstrated through its actions that it does not want peace in Gaza and the West Bank, and that the pressure of the international community is important, Erdoğan noted that tensions have increased in Iran and Ukraine, and that the negotiation process can be restored by reaching an agreement on Hormuz.
Stating that there is a state of stalemate regarding Ukraine, Erdoğan pointed out that targeting Turkish or foreign merchant ships in the Black Sea further complicates the situation.
Erdoğan underlined that any formula that does not recognize the sovereign equality and international status of the Turkish Cypriot people on the Island will not yield results.

During the meeting, President Erdoğan stated that Turkey and Japan have the potential to increase their bilateral trade volume in a balanced way in a short time, and that it is important to evaluate cooperation opportunities in the fields of energy, infrastructure and defense industry.
Noting that Türkiye strives for peace in its region and in the world, Erdoğan stated that the reconstruction of Syria, Gaza and Ukraine, which were destroyed by wars, is also important.
President Erdoğan invited Japanese Prime Minister Takaiçi to the COP-31 Leaders Summit to be held in Türkiye.
