NEW Party Zonguldak Deputy Deniz Yavuzyılmaz claimed that if the KGM European Highway on the Istanbul-Edirne route is privatized, the toll fee, which is 168 lira, could gradually increase to 780 lira. Yavuzyılmaz argued that this would mean a raise of up to 360 percent.

Yavuzyılmaz used the following statements in his statement on his social media account:

"We continue to explain the cost of the bridge and highway privatization plan to the citizens! The name of the highway included in the scope of privatization: KGM European Highway. Route: Istanbul-Edirne. Length: 211 km. Toll: 168 TL. If this privatization takes place, the expected increase in the vehicle toll is 360 percent. So how? In the 1st Region of Highways, covering the Istanbul-Edirne route, the publicly operated KGM Europe Vehicle toll on the highway: 0.80 TL per kilometer.

The current vehicle toll for the Northern Marmara European Highway, which is on the same route and built with the Build-Operate-Transfer model and operated by pro-government companies, is: 3.71 TL per kilometer. The difference is 3.60 times. Result: KGM means privatization of the European Motorway; This means that the vehicle toll, which is currently 168 TL, will gradually increase to 780 TL! This means a raise of up to 360 percent! This is highway robbery!”
