Tainan Mayor Huang Weizhe's sister Huang Zhixian responded to the controversy over the decoration of the Uni-President Lions bus, explaining the stadium's profit sharing and the city government's position

Tainan recently had its "Unification Lion Bus" decorations removed due to suspicion, sparking heated discussions among netizens. Unexpectedly, the "Lion Machine Incident" has burned all the way to the Asia-Pacific Baseball Stadium's operating rights, and even sparked an online debate over whether the city government supports the local Unification Lions. Tainan Mayor Huang Weizhe's sister Huang Zhixian also rarely came forward to reply to netizens. She explained everything from the stadium's profit sharing and construction funds to the partnership between the city and the league. She said: "The Uni-President Lions have no place in the group. That is because the Uni-President Consortium does not care for the lions. Could it be said that because the Uni-President Consortium is unwilling to spend money, the hard-earned money of the city government and the people must be used to subsidize the Uni-President Consortium?"

Huang Zhixian said that the current contract between the Tainan City Government and Uni-President Lions is based on 8% of the ballot box revenue as profit sharing; in comparison, the contract between the same Uni-President Lions and Farglory Arena is based on 10% of the profit sharing of ballot box revenue. She pointed out that the Tainan City Government originally proposed a profit sharing of 10%, not the 20% circulated on the Internet, but the Uni-President Lions hoped to achieve 8%, and the City Government finally agreed.

She pointed out that the construction funds for the Asia-Pacific Baseball Stadium were jointly invested by the central and local governments, and were not funded by Uni-President Group. Therefore, the property rights and schedule of the stadium still involve the municipal government’s public asset management. If the team hopes to obtain more preferential use, the relevant conditions should be fair and reasonable, and cannot unilaterally only talk about what the team can obtain.

Huang Chih-hsien also asked, the Asia-Pacific Stadium belongs to the city government. If it is handed over to the Unified Lions, what will the Tainan City Government lose and gain? "What if Uni-President only wants to take but refuses to give?" She believes that it is not that the city government does not support local teams, but is seeking a balance between the interests of the team and the rights of citizens.

The starting point of this controversy was that some fans recently discovered that the original decoration with unified lion elements on the buses in Tainan had disappeared, and questioned whether the city government "does not support the local Lions team." The Transportation Bureau immediately clarified that the Internet rumor that "the Uni-President Lion Bus was removed from the shelves" was an unfounded error and was not a request from the city government to remove it.
