Xinjiang Friendship Exchange Meeting with International Celebrities Held in Urumqi

More than 300 guests from the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the International Labor Organization, and more than 30 countries and regions attended the event.

With the theme of "Xinjiang Governance Experience and International Significance", the conference held four thematic conferences on "Terrorism, Stability Maintenance and Human Rights Protection", "National Unity and Common Development", "Social Governance and People's Livelihood Improvement" and "Opposing Unilateral Sanctions and Power Politics" simultaneously. Guests at home and abroad shared experiences and discussed development.

Yemekbayev, Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, said that Xinjiang has demonstrated outstanding results in high-quality social and economic development and continues to expand external contacts and cooperation. At the same time, Xinjiang’s contribution to maintaining security and stability is particularly important. Economic cooperation and security complement each other, which creates necessary conditions for long-term cooperation between regions.

Phokchen Pong Lajun, president of the Thailand-China Cultural and Economic Association, said that his experience visiting Xinjiang in the past few days has been incredible. Local development is not limited to high-rise buildings, but also to people living together in safety and harmony, being respected, enjoying the right to development, and maintaining differences but moving forward hand in hand. Yasuyu Kojima, a Japanese friend who is over eighty years old, shared his personal experience in the form of pictures and texts at the meeting. "In the more than 40 years since I first entered Xinjiang, I have been to Xinjiang more than 150 times. Great changes have taken place here. Xinjiang is open, united, tolerant, and developing rapidly. When talking about the international significance of Xinjiang's governance experience, the smiles of the local people are the best answer."

Before the meeting, Chinese and foreign guests had visited Xinjiang’s Kashgar region, Aksu region, Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture and other places. Many overseas guests said that Xinjiang they saw with their own eyes has strong economic and social development and people live harmoniously and happily. As the core area of ​​the Silk Road Economic Belt, Xinjiang is highly optimistic about its potential for international cooperation.
