The new school building of Madou Anye Elementary School in Tainan opens, incorporating local Wendan characteristics

Tainan Madou Anye Elementary School was demolished and rebuilt after two years, with a total cost of 181.45 million yuan. The architectural design was combined with the characteristics of Madou's local Wendan industry. The new teaching and administrative buildings were opened today (5th), and teachers and students returned to campus.

Madou Anye Elementary School was founded over a century ago. During the demolition and reconstruction of the old school building, the teachers and students were temporarily relocated to the nearby Ji'an Elementary School. Tainan Mayor Huang Weizhe went to the gate of the new Anye Elementary School early in the morning to welcome the students back to campus. Huang Weizhe expressed his hope that the new teaching building will provide children with a better learning environment and improve teaching and learning effectiveness.

Director of Education Zheng Xinhui pointed out that the new school building is equipped with 21 classrooms, 12 toilets, 7 stairs and 1 barrier-free elevator, and aims to obtain building energy efficiency level 1+ and diamond level green building certificates to create a campus environment that takes into account energy conservation, sustainability and usage needs. The project was designed and supervised by Chen Wenxiang Architects and constructed by Prosperous Engineering Co., Ltd.

The architectural design incorporates Madou’s local industrial features, such as Wendan-shaped staircases and grapefruit terraces, and retains century-old trees and alumni memory corners on campus to connect the new school building with the history of the campus and continue the emotions of teachers, students, and alumni towards the school.

Chen Hongji, principal of Anye Elementary School, said that in the future, the new school building and special teams will be combined to create a good learning environment and accompany children on their new learning journey.
